MY JAM RECORDS

With her powerful, unmatched vocal presence, AURIYAN provides a heavenly haven, giving light to many through her passion for womanhood and empowerment, self-love, living in truth, and making people feel good through song. With her warm but gritty sound she opens the door for her listeners to experience true freedom. With deep, conversational lyrics she provides a space for self-reflection and healing.

It all started in a small city, Augusta, Georgia, the home of THEE Godfather of Soul, James Brown. Her roots derive from her southern Christian background, singing and leading the church choir along with her mother, grandmother, aunt, and great-grandmother. These influences are evident along with her love for funk, R&B, Hip Hop, and Jazz. She recalls many days taking rides with her grandmother and being mesmerized by the music and voices of Stevie Wonder, Whitney Houston, Erykah Badu, Luther Vandross and Jill Scott. AURIYAN fell deeply in love with jazz aSer being selected as the lead vocalist for her high school jazz band. She clung to the records of Nina Simone, Billie Holiday, John Coltrane, BeBy Carter, and Miles Davis. Through jazz she developed her affinity for storytelling, and she describes it as the first time she truly felt free. This opened her up to diving deeper into songwriting and composition which you will see more of in her debut album she is currently working on.

She has performed in many prestigious venues in Atlanta, Georgia, such as The Velvet Note, St. James Live, The High Museum, and more. She has had the privilege of performing with the city’s finest musicians such as, Justin Raines, Larry Wilson, Kenny Banks Jr, and many others.

These influences helped her to define her voice and what she adds to the conversation of music. Creating and singing has always been a gateway for AURIYAN to let go and be free, and she looks forward to creating a safe space for her listeners to do the same.
